It has been more than a year since our visit to the priceless natural treasure of Chalkidiki, and the ecological tragedy unfolding there.
Ever since, we have been watching with dismay as the harassment of opponents to the mine has reached new heights, even as local communities have made their voices clear at the ballot box: this project has been soundly rejected by those most affected.
Our solidarity is with those brave women who are once again putting their bodies on the line at the gates of Eldorado Gold. They have faced state violence, judicial persecution, and other anti-democratic measures (including the latest law about to be voted on in the Greek parliament, which is an outrage.) They are fighting to save their water and their land. History is on their side.
